Looks SLI won't be giving the best graphics after all. I just checked and the new SLI boards only allow for two GPUs to be in SLI using PCIe 8x on PCIe 16x ports. This means that the ports are actually downclocked to host half their bandwith. This means that if future SLI users use cards like the Radeon X850-- which are optimized to use the fully bandwith of PCIe 16x, the benefit of SLI will actually go down from what we see right now.

I think the dual GPU video card will be a better peformer since it will be using the SLI interface, but will use PCIe 16x bandwith. Looks like Intel has done good by not designing an SLI chipset.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

in some cases on certain benchmarks on some websites u do see one 6800ultra beating the ones in sli!!! However this is only in the lower resolutions, when you get upto the higher resolutions all sli own, big time!!! Nothing can touch sli when u turn the resolution way up!!
