Hi,

I just have a quick question about combining memory.

I have a Compaq Presario S4000NX Desktop PC (web link
with a 128 mb stick of DDR SDRAM Infenion (web link)http://www.infineon.com/cgi/ecrm.dll/ecrm/scripts/prod_ov.jsp?oid=13537)
and just purchased Azenram 512MB 184-Pin DDR Memory (web link
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...&sku_id=0665000FS10038448&catid=&newdeptid=18).

Are these two compatible with one another? Can I stick the 512 in with the 128 and it will work?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Yeah they are both DDR Ram.

The older kind of ram such as PC133 and whatnot will generally look different as well and you can tell between two incompatible sticks by looking at the notches.

The older sticks were simply SDRAM where those are DDR SDRAM

You can't put a DDR SDRAM stick into a computer that only accepts SDRAM and you can't put SDRAM into a computer that only accepts DDR.

But yeah like I said, those are two compatible sticks, and basically your computer is new enough that you really don't have to worry about incompatibilities as long as you get 184pin DDR RAM and your board probably wouldn't handle more than PC3200
