I've tried that also. The thing is it stays on all the time, whether I'm logged in or not. Today I went into windows task manager and had to end the process. I guess I may have to do that all the time until I find out more.

what did you try also?

run msconfig
under services, disable the messenger service
under startup, uncheck MsnMsgr, msmsgs

also if you use outlook or other office products, check your settings to make sure there isn't a check mark beside enable messaging... this launches msnmsgr and msmsgs

the windows messenger is tied into the os and to MS Office.. you may remove it, and you won't look like you're online, but it's still there and it's still running ;)

JoeInPA just do the windows messenger removal thing that's in my post above and you wont have any more problem's,i've done it for 4 other comp's beside's my own and it worked every time.

yeah. just try what SHUMWAY put up. that command line. it worked for me, even tho i never had MSN messenger. I think i had windows messenger. i already forgot. but it deleted something, i remember and my comp still works fine.
