small compact cases and fiber optics.. they dont bend very well.... we have a couple thousand feet of fiber optics to link locations from one catalyst server to another and there is a bend factor considered when dealing with them, installing them in a cramped inclosed space would not be ideal. Then the speed limitations due to mechanical devices would also factor in.

alright lets just say fiber optics wont be good because newbs would break them and waste money and they dont bend, and not user friendy and they cost alot. but not a a bad idea to use fiber if they can devise a way to make it bend and become user friendlyier.
