Not all of them. I dunno, I posted a thread to ask for a good HD benchmark myself some time ago, nobody replied.

Hmm. I havent gotten any with a google search.

Now the sound on my system hard drive (sounds like an alternater on a car trying to turn over, but quieter) happens for a shorter time durning start up. Its fine once its into windows.

Is this something that mean that it is going to die?

Should the fitness of the drive be higher? Or because of the pc being on 24/7 deminish this?

Well.. i got some replies and used Winbench99 2.0 to benchmark my HD's.

I have this powermax 4.0 floppy creator that people can use to erase, format and it has all kind of test for hard drive performance. however the size of it is 719 kb so I can't upload it to this site. Didn't they have a post on this forum where I can upload ultilities like this?

What does it tell you about the hard drive? Is it some kind of a stress test?

It tells you average read or write speed and more.. dunno exactly, it has thousands of options.
