the processor 2600-M is very overclockable, and at the time can outperform an althon 3400 or 4000 if overclocked high enough, which should be fairly easy to do w/ water cooling. As for PCI express.. it shouldnt go mainstream for another couple years, but if youd rather go w/ PCI-E then go for it.

IMO get black, not beige drives and a dual layer DVD-R. It'll only cost about $20 than the Samsung and black looks cool in any color case.

If you don't have a specific need for a floppy you may as well not bother, those things have only been useful for updating BIOS images and installing Windows, and now Windows installs straight from CD and you can flash BIOS from the OS, they're totally useless.

I may get flamed for this, but AMD have better memory pipelines and so work best for applications where accessing data and passing it through to the right place is important. For example, reading a game and sending it to the graphics card. Intel is better at multitasking and number-crunching, stuff like encoding video and music, or just running office apps is way faster on a P4. This is why offices have P4s and gamers have Athlon.

Finally, if your mobo supports it, go for a SATA hd- it's set to replace IDE.
