Im just wondering here if service pack 2 is good for u or not. For me its bad, everything has gone slower then before and i couldnt even surf the net, internet was just pissing me off because its gone slower then before. Some of my programs has just gone CRAZY slow or not even working:mad: I just uninstalled and everything is back to normal, i know that sp2 was to help your pc more secure and more helpfull but then i guess not for me:angry:

Well how is sp2 doing for u??????

WARLORD88,

No problems whatsoever after installing sp2 on windows XP. Sp2 install made my system boot a little faster, popup blocker was cool, windows firewall was OK. And i beleieve they fixed lot of security bugs. I was infected less with spywares after installing sp2. Its like RTFM before doing any installation of a piece of software..

o yea it made my comp start up faster then ever but then thats pritty much it and all other stuff has gone bad. It might just be me or something else. I have dial up so then i dont worry much about firewall or like my comp being hacked plus i never get pop ups, for security McAffe is helping me out bug time and some other anti software.

As far as my computer's "life" goes (hah)...it hasn't made a difference. Well, firstly I had to disable the window's firewall, popup blocker, auto-update and notifications...other than that...nothing new at all. It didn't help me at all, nor hurt anything...so, whatever...is my opinion :)

my opinion on sp2 is dont install it until the day windows rams down your throught that you have to upgrade. But until then, im not.

Yeah....that brings up an interesting point. I am one of the types of people that keeps everything up-to-date (not sure why, just like to!)... I wonder:

Which computer actually does better by performance, last longers in terms of major problems, and the minor ones such as ad/spy/virus etc. I sure hope up-to-date wins...it sure has wasted a lot of my time if it doesn't! :)

IF your computer is SQUEAKY clean, you will probably do fine. I would suggest trying to slipstream your windows xp into SP2 before you do this and format a back up hard drive IF you have one.

IF you can do that, here are some web sites to help:

I hope these help. Liz

i had installed SP2 on two of my computers, on one i had to reinstall XP to get it working right again, on the other, i just had to uninstall SP2 to get it working right.

Well, the way i went was put on a fresh install-Repartition reformat reinstall, got dual-boot working, then put on SP2. Not a problem with it at all. Corporate users (and schools that use AR, AM, and other standard achievement software) will obviously have more issues than us mere home users.

SP2 a-okay here. Just had to shut off that security shield and re-installed custom theme.
Lost the "Professional" on boot up screen.
If you have spyware or adware you will have issues. I've heard some firewall/anti-virus programs have issues with SP2.
