Can anyone tell me what overclocking is... and how you do it?? i'm not gonna overclock... just wanna know what it is.. and how it works... thanks.. Please list any websites good for computer info plz... thanks

overclocking is making your cpu clock frequency faster, eg Making a 2.8ghz Pentium 4 into a 3.0ghz Pentium 4 . You usually do this via the bios. It works by increasing your fsb or multiplier, depending on your cpu. Different cpu's overclock better than others. A good one to look for is a Pentium 4 C 3.4ghz (with HT). Also the Athlon XP series of CPU's overclock well.

If your not careful....overclocking will increase the temperature of the CPU and can cause damge.

also, it can severly decrease the life of the components such as the CPU, ram, graphics card, motherboard and pci cards.
