Wrong driver

My friend asked me to upgrade his Lenovo G550 from windows 7 to windows 10. My question is CAN WRONG DRIVER ON WINDOWS CAN CAUSE HARDWARE FAILURE?

I raised that question because I cannot find the video card driver for windows 10 of the said laptop on their website. However, when I tried to update it via device manager I got an update and installed the driver.

I am a bit worried if I am doing it right...

You should be fine, graphics will be intel or nvidia

You can manually download the latest drivers here after selecing Laptops > Lenovo G series > G550
https://download.lenovo.com/eol/index.html

DL the WIndows7 version (32 or 64bit to match your OS) if you need them

I checked the link you gave but i cannot find video driver for win 10. I think i'll stick to win 7 because after installing win 10 the laptop became slow and lagging. Cpu was always 100% on startup

Yes there's no specific driver for Win10 for that laptop, stick with the Win7ones - link was just in case you hit issues with current drivers or needed additional ones
