I have purchased 1,000's of PCs but that was awhile ago.

Acquired a laptop a couple of years ago and a techy said Win 2000 was the only way to go.

However, I noticed that the laptops at work are running something different.

What is the primo non-problem OS for Win these days? I have Win 2000 currently on an IBM laptop and it's been very good but have screwed with this laptop too much. Would like to format disks...

Thing is.... I bought the laptop 2nd hand and have no disks... so must fork it out.

After your recommendation... can I buy 2nd hand and save some decent $$$?

Thank you much for your kindness.

x86 Family 6 Model 8

Currently running MS Win 2000 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4

For the products you recommend... can I buy on the net 2nd hand?

$300 is a bit much for just software at a retail outlet.

I don't have the disks... and can find no steps on how the cleanout all the nonsense on the PC I have while leaving the OS.

Is there magic disk that will allow me to leave the OS but remove everything else?

Trust me, Windows XP Professional can be found for under $200 at the most. I think you could probably find the full version for about $150.

You would have to format and THEN reinstall your OS to do that. There's no absolute way of getting rid of everything except the OS.
