Best GPU 600-700$ range?

A fellow broadcaster was telling me about some self-contained liquid cooled GPUs by MSI and how they compare to some other non-liquid GPUs.

I've saved up quite a bit of money for the 2017 powerbox build so in a month or two I'll be buying and building so I want to make sure Im getting the best for the money.

Currently looking at the OC'd ROG STRIX

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Sorry, that card will have sag worse than an 80 year old lady in less than 6 months.

One more thing to note, Asus puts a sticker on one of the screws on the back of their cards so taking it apart to clean will void warranty.

On the rig, if you plan to go SATA 1TB M.2 route I would go with the 850 EVO, but if cost is a deal I'd get the WD Blue.

One thing to note, the 600T is old and if they haven't updated it still the USB3 port has a Type A cable that needs to be ran to the back of the board or needs an ugly adapter for mobo header.

Oh yea on the GPU, none of the air cooled cards compare to the hybrid cooled GPU temps. Can't even come close. Hybrid stuff almost comes as close as custom loop temps. My Titan X cards OC'd would max load around 55c with hybrid coolers. Obligatory mention that PSU is too much for rig even with SLI.

DAMN THATS BEAUTIFUL... is there any way to replace the tubing to make them longer? I'll need to check more detail about where fans are planned to go but that card is ****ing elegant looking... I dunno how I feel about the aesthetic of two sets of hoses for the two radiators but you're right performance wise this is the way to go..

TBH only reason I picked the one I did was because of the color. Love the silver MSI motherboard but putting a gawdy green chip on it imo would look like **** on a platter. The WD blue might visually look nicer... Samsung makes an M.2 SATA SSD that is a black chip (i think the EVO PRO?) but its like 600$... NOPE

hmm.. I should concern myself less with looks and more with performance... I'm not going to be staring into the case :rolleyes:




The 2x16 is slower.. 2666mhz vs 3000mhz .. still worth it? Or would it be better to spend another 50$ on the 2x16 @ 3200mhz?

General question about PSU... Say you have a 1200w PSU but your components only use 550w... Does the PSU still draw 1200w even though its not using it? I kinda want overkill on my PSU because of weird power-related issues i've had in the past but I dont want to go too-overkill if I will pay the price on my power bill. Ya feel?

Only pulls what you're using at that moment in time.

For weird power issues, I'd say get a quality PSU that's not overkill and a UPS.

I think that EVGA modular is a quality PSU.. maybe I'll get the 1000w or the 800w. Do you agree its a good quality PSU? If not what would you suggest?

The tubes are long, if you want them longer go custom water lol. They'll reach the front of your case easy or the back.

Wouldn't notice the difference between 2133 and 3200 tbh. We're not memory bottlenecked or even close to it. I would have 2133 in my rig but instead made a mistake and was too lazy to return the product. Runs at 2133 on my current board anyways.

Only uses what your components draw after efficiency. If you're only using 350w from your components you'll be outside of the efficiency curve of that PSU and so it'll be more like 370ish. I get wanting more, but you're spending like an extra 100 bucks just to have a 1200W PSU. I'm running a 1350 in mine because I had 3 Titan Xs before and it was 70 bucks off CL new. Seemed like a good option to me. Now I wish I had something like an 850.
 
After the box arrived im reading the box and notice the graphic on the outside of the box says that this board is for 6th gen Intel processors. Contacted MSI and they say, based on the serial number, that it wouldn't have the bios version to support 7th gen Intels so im doing a return on this one and getting the z270.

PP - Its not silver. ;)
