It's definitely a different laptop. I don't remember the serial number exactly but there was a small scratch on the palm rest for some reason but this one doesn't have that. That and there was new plastic I had to peel off. I'm not sure if they would reapply plastic wrap to a repaired unit.
Turns out I may have sorted the issue out by doing the same as the person in this forum post in message 12. The event has stopped flooding the event viewer but one or two instances of that event still come up immediately after resuming from sleep or booting up but other than that they seem ho have completely vanished.
