This is probably a dumb question, but how do I open an image file on my pc with out it on a disc?

I use a program called Alcohol 120%. It also allows you to mount images on virtual drives. There are many programs that open image files but i cant think of any others off the top of my head.
ISO files can be opened in WinRAR as well.
Try google to find other programs

first, what type of image file?
second you will need an application that can open and/or edit that type of picture file...
what do you mean on a disc? floppy, cd, hd?

**edit** still on first cup of coffee... are you talking drive immage?

More importantly...WHY do you need to open an image file on your PC without the disk?

And also, WHY is this in the Off-Topic forum?

I didn't know where to put the topic, that's why it's here. It is a .iso file. I tried winrar already and it wont open the file.

mx416,

You can use 'winiso' software to open .iso files from your HDD. Or follow Roshi229 suggestion to burn them to disc and open the files

Winrar will extract it to it's regular files. right click it, choose extract here. alcohol will read it without extraction
