Hey guys, so im using my laptop and i got bored so i decided to play a bit of minecraft for the first time in ages. I tried running it but it always crashed (even on the alpha released) because it requires opengl 2.0+. I tried getting my opengl version number by using OpenGL Extensions Viewer and it said 1.1. All my drivers are updated and i have a Intel 965 chip. I remember a year or two back I could run minecraft on this computer but now it doesn't. So what could be the problem?

Update: So now my computer is saying its running OpenGL 2.0 but minecraft is still not starting.

Well I'm not on my computer atm but on the early versions of Minecraft it said that my pixel format was not accelerated.

I need a full hardware spec list before I can tell you what's going on. I've dealt with stuff like this before, should be an easy fix. (Hopefully).

OK, I'm back on the computer and here's the specs and full error log for Minecraft 1.7.2.
Specs:
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727
CPU: Intel Celeron M 550 @ 2.00ghz
RAM: 3gb
If you want any other specs just ask.

btw, in device manager under Display adapters it says 'Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family'

Pixel Format Not Accelerated - Hopper
On first- and second- generation Intel HD graphics chipsets, a Java version below 8u60 is needed on Windows 10. The new Minecraft launcher available on minecraft.net/download as a .MSI should automatically resolve issues on these chipsets.

I would suggest trying to downgrade Java versions firstly.

You can make double check you have OpenGL 2.0 drivers with this:
OpenGL Extensions Viewer - Download

When you installed your Intel GPU drivers, did you get them from Intel's website?

Update: yeah, so downgrading to java 7 works despite a warning to update. Idk how that fixed it :p. Thanks

Good to hear that the Java version worked.

May want to jump to Java 8, just as long as it's below the update mentioned in the article.

Also, I think you can tell Minecraft to use a specific version of Java...so you could have both the new and old versions installed, and just tell MC to use the older version while the rest of your system uses the newer version (for security reasons).
