Dear Friends,

I work for computer labs and have been observing, on and off problem: A:/ not accessible in Windows XP. Infact if you insert a floppy in the A:/, it won't read the floppy and will just show a pop-up saying "Floppy not formatted; do you want to format it?"

I tested work-stations (computers) with different floppies and still face the same problem.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
DJ-Nixz

Depends on the situation. If you are in a network environment, the administrators may have a GPO that has them disabled for security reasons.

So, first thing I would do is ask an Admin if they have A: disabled.

Compatibility issue with Windows XP Pro.

Our Admin has not disabled the A:/. I guess its compatibility issue, but what's the possible solution, keeping low cost in mind. I was wondering if there is any software that can be installed to fix this problem?

Any response will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
DJ-NIxz
