Phenom 2 has a weak IMC. You might need to either drop speeds to 1333 or raise IMC voltage. Have you actually loaded CPU temp with Prime95 or Aida64 for long periods of time? Might also help to set all RAM timings and RAM voltage in the bios manually.

When was the last time the GPU was properly cleaned? Did you properly stress it with Kombustor?

Being dual core the CPU might not have enough threads. The game seems to properly load 3-4 threads when in battle. I'm assuming the resolution is 1080p or less so the 5850 in theory should be able to run it properly on all low settings.

Finally, if malware or a virus isn't the issue the protein shake might be the achilles heel here. Any kind of liquid spilled on electronics if not properly cleaned up and let dry for 24-48 hours could have shorted something that's not immediately noticeable.
