Hello All -

I know I don't have a sound card on the list. I'm going to use the onboard sound for right now.

Thanks for all the help!

Hmm...I guess you are going to be using this PC for gaming? I would hightly recommend staying away from the GeForce FX series. I can't stress to you how bad the GeForce FX cards are. Get the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro.

Agreed ^^
stay away from the FX series. get a 9800 pro (perferably 256-bit), but if you can aford a little more, get a 6600gt

Beedu is so right, ive bought my FX5200 128 mb card and it sucks! people told me it was for gaming but its not the card sucks! get 6600GT for 219 dollers if you can.

That is a great power supply you've picked out there, but it's also more than you need. With that setup you mentioned, you can easily get by with an Antec 400W and save some cash. The only thing you'd need a 480W PSU for is something like the Nvidia 6800Ultra card or if you had 4+ hard drives.

Of course, if you plan to upgrade this computer in a few years, your PSU will be ready to handle bigger and badder video cards, so that's a plus.

And stay away from Geforce FX. Definitely go with peoples' reccomendations of a 6600GT or 9800Pro.

Thanks for all the information, please keep it coming. Sounds like I need to make one change to my plan and that is the video card. There are many reasons why I'm going with the 480 W power supply. The biggest reason is because I have had bad luck with underpowered systems causing damage to the motherboard and processor. Also when I get some more extra money I plan on buy another 200 GB HD and setting a stripped raid system.

Get an Abit AA8-Duramax motherboard along with a Radeon X700XT or GeForce 6600GT

The Abit AA8-Duramax motherboard has PCI-Express and I don't want PCI-Express for now. It needs another year before I woud try it.

thats how i felt when i ordered my comp two days ago. Your build good BUT 400gb harddrive is way too much... you wont fill that up in 10 years... thats just my opinion...
