Hi all, I have a question about power supply's output if anyone has an answer for it. My DSL modem's rating is 12VDC but I lost the power supply to it. My printer has a power supply and it has an output of 30 VDC. I plugged my printer's power supply in and it works. Is this setting ok? Will it burn my modem cause it has too much output on the power supply? Thank you in advance.

P3t3r,

WHoa!!, AFAIk , that is a serious problem. Doesn't your modem get heated up? Anyz, its bad for the electronic components...

Hmm only get a bit hotter but you can't really notice the heat. Is it bad? Is it going to burn my modem? wil it seriously damage my modem in a short term ? Thanks.

Thanks for the help but is it going to destory my modem? I rather not buy a new power supply if I can. Thanks.

You can get in serious trouble for tampering with a cable modem. There are some ways to unlock the speed that your cable modem recieves and it the cable company will flip a shit.
