upgrade to 970

i have a Corsair 550VX with a ASUS P8Z68-V LE LGA 1155 Intel Z68 and well.. my signature rig.

i would like to upgrade my graphics card to a gtx 970

It'll work, no bottleneck, just make sure to:

Download latest Nvidia drivers from their site
Uninstall ATI/AMD drivers
Use DDU to remove all ATI/AMD instances
Turn off PC, take old card out, install new card, fire up machine
Install new Nvidia drivers

a better product around this price?

just looking for powerful but not airplane taking off sound levels.

Nope. You could go 380x or 390 but they put off a ton of heat and suck the juice.
