New parts

How old is the system, Odds are the ram is DDR2 which is obsolete for new systems and with your budget you could use the old hard drive for storage but for the operating system I would highly recommend using a SSD hard drive, much faster and well worth the investment. 15 gigs???? How did you get that combination of ram??? It usually comes to a even number.

Yes its probably ddr2 and its an older harddrive. I guess i will need to transfer the memory to a newer harddrive. Anyways ive looked up some parts and would love your opinions. A H97 plus mother board. An intel core I5-4690K. A GTX970 (i have no idea which one though, there was like 4 different brands). And finally a TR2 700W PSU.

all looks good but not familiar with the power supply brand, We can put a list together for you with some known quality parts, I just don't have time ATM but I am sure someone will and we can each have our input to find the best deals for you with a quality brand. For Power supply I look at seasonic first then Corsair as a close second but Corsair also has a lower end made by a different maker I wouldn't suggest for a gaming system. For the Power supply I would go with this first choice for a 750w
SeaSonic M12II 750 SS-750AM 750W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Semi-modular Power Supply - Newegg.com
But a 650w will be plenty for that system as long as it's a quality one, Many rate them at the peak power but these are rated at the standard out put with higher peak power rates. A good one if you want to save a few dollars.

Just so you know I back seasonic this is the one I personally have

No point in getting a K class CPU if you're not getting a Z97 board.

Actually for your budget, might as well get Skylake. Some of these items are just placeholders (like case if you don't like that one) with some room to spare.
