Intermittent network failure

I had something a little similar after I installed 10 on a pc, When I disabled Energy Efficient Ethernet the internet stopped dropping out

Carnage: yes, installed those drivers. No improvement
i2D: found my event log. It just shut off recently. I have one "Error" source is NDIS

Then two identical "information" for e1iexpress that say: "Intel(R) Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter
The network driver has been stopped because the network adapter has been removed.

Then a warning for e1iexpress that says: "Intel(R) Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter
Network link is disconnected."

All these occurred at the same time (and would be the time the network went down). Then 1 1/2 min later (after I disabled/enabled the Adapter) I have an "information" that says (with source as e1iexpress): "Intel(R) Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter
Network link has been established at 100Mbps full duplex."

And now it is working.

Joe C: I can't find "Energy Efficient Ethernet" searching in help etc.

EDIT: Joe C, under properties for the adapter I went to Power management and unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Is that what you are referring to?

My research on the event 10317 all seem to point towards lack of reliable drivers for win10..

Follow these steps, goto Devmgmt as Admin,
Find the drivers for both your NICs (built in / PCIe)
> goto properties
> details
> scroll on tab to "hardware Ids"
> write down the VEN & DEV (e.g. PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_3090&SUBSYS_663211AD&REV_00)
> Then right-click and uninstall both drivers
> Then goto PCI Vendor and Device Lists
>use the VEN it will show a list of drivers
> scroll down or "find" to match the DEV to VEN
>It should hopefully list and provide a link to the correct driver
>download and install

Some people also talk about the SIPS (System Idle Power Saver), you'd need to disable via regedit.. but I think its Win10 that is messing you about...

Note* I use PCIdatabase for all my drivers (sometimes it wont have them though) its a very handy site to keep in mind

Even if it doesn't have a link to the driver you need, it usually lists the chip # which is enough info usually to Google and try and find the driver yourself.

What I meant, is sometimes it doesnt list any info on the device/ driver... so yeah you'd have to manually find it with the info you know already...

Thanks, I really do appreciate how helpful everyone is!

My Gigabit (PCI Card) is: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10D3&SUBSYS_A01F8086&REV_00
My motherboard card is: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15A1&SUBSYS_15A11849&REV_05

Went to site (before I disable the drivers, or I would think I"d have no internet acess..) and only by searching the "8086&DEV" string could I get anything, but the list that came up had nothing (in the Intel section) of the whole thing (ie. the "_10D3&SUBSYS_" or "_15A1&SUBSYS_"

I checked my driver (focusing on the Gigabit PCI card) and it is a Microsfot driver version 12.12.50.6 date March 2015 (before Win 10 even came out?).
Went to Intel. Wasn't sure the version of Gigabit (using the drop down menus it has several "Gigabit" devices) so I searched under drivers for "gigabit" and downloaded the "LAN: Intel® Gigabit Ethernet Controller driver for Intel® NUC" (Link for Wind 10, 64-bit. then unistalled my drivers and ran the download. Driver version/date is still the same (and says Microsoft, rather than Intel).

I'm downloading the "Driver Update Utility Installer" from Intel, but tried that before and it did not find ANY intel devices, but I'll try it again.

On the Intel download site link I put in "1.) ethernet Comonents, 2.) Ethernet Controller" and in the 3.) dropdown I have a bunch of "Gigabits" such as "Intel 82540 Gigabit ehternet controller" or "Intel 82541 Gigabit Ethernet Controller". How can I find out which is mine? (tried "properties" on device manager and can't seem to find any similar number)

Ran "Intel Driver Update Utility" (freshly downloaded) and it says "No driver were detected for your product". :-(
