Sound right?

Having problems with my video card so i compared it to a Geforce 4 Ti 4200....

I have a MSI geforce fx 5200.....


The benchmards come through saying:


Ti 4200 - 10832 3DMARKS in 3dmark 01
FX 5200 - 4227 3DMARKS in 3dmark 01

BOTH on the same computer... is that ****ed or what?

My friend has a Ti4200, and it whoops my old FX5600 SE in Far Cry, and that's with a slower CPU and RAM... So I'd say that sounds about right.

Its funny the 5600 beats it in all benchmarks

Hmm... Well I'm only going by personal experience: Bearing in mind that my 5600 is an SE, i.e a toned-down version of the 5600, and my friends Ti4200 is apparently a Quadro XGL (going by the what the nVidia display driver tells). Out of interest, what benchmarks are you referring to in particular? It's just that I've always been lead to believe that the FX series in general paled in comparison to the Ti4k series... but I might be wrong...

Thanks, I'll look up those benchmarks when I get chance...

Could be that you have a dodgy 5600 maybe... Or perhaps you've got a corrupt driver or something (btw you have got the latest forceware drivers- 66.93- right?)... But I still swear that on paper the Ti4000's outdo the low-end FX's.

But like I say I could be wrong, and I'm probably going to be abbruptly corrected on this by none of our veterans at TF
