Possibly a driver issue or hardware?

So ive had this problem for a while now and im not sure if its either getting more frequent or im aggrivating it more. Basically im in a game lets say war thunder and i tab out to check the internet and tab back in, works fine. Every now and then i tab back in to the game and it gets stuck on a black screen, still powered and sounds from the game still play but the screen is entirely frozen on black. I cant tab back out of it cant task manager or ctrl atl del it. The normal power button doesnt turn it off i have to do a hard restart on it. Any ideas anyone?

Im using an XFX 7950 graphics card.

Are you on the latest GPU drivers?

Some games don't like to be alt-tabbed out of - has happened to me on several games where I just have to force quit it.

yeah on all new drivers >.< and yeah maybe its just a massive irritation

Are you on AMD's latest "Stable" or on their Beta drivers?

Stable drivers, afraid of the beta xD

Would suggest maybe trying the Beta drivers, as well as making sure your DirectX and .NET Framework installs are up to date.

Does it happen in all games, or only particular games?

yeah maybe i will and it seems to happen in most games although i dont tend to tab out of games as much as war thunder
