does any 1 have a clue wat the highest Amd athlon Xp processor is that would go on a GA-7VT600 1394 Socket A m/b this is a pic as well thnkz.

well considering it says DDR400 and FSB400 I'd say up to the 3200+ XP-M since it's only that and the 3000+ I believe that are infact 400FSB...not 100% sure if the 2800+ is 333 or 400FSB.

yeah I just looked it up actually. The 3000+ Barton core is the first one that's 400FSB then of course the 3200+ XP is. But there's also the 3000+ XP that's not a barton core and it's only 333FSB.

wouldnt it make more sense to get one with lower FSB to allow more overclocking without hitting a memory bottleneck?

so should i go 333Mhz or 400Mhz with DDR 400 RAM also and is there a athlon Xp 2600 400Mhz

try not to double post, if you can avoid it... like running this and the athlon xp thread in parallel. it will make you unpopular very quickly around here.

Wha? Yeah only if he wants to get like the 2500+ or 2600+ XP barton core and OC but I don't think he's out to do that. The lower FSB doesn't allow for higher overclocks though they just happen to be at low settings because it's more along the lines of a value chip, this more applying to the XP-M's.

You want 400MHz to go with DDR400 RAM, you want the numbers to match for optimum performance. If there's a 2600+ XP 400FSB CPU then I say go for it.

Ive been able to get this:Click here
To get to this on stock hsf and, budget RAM for $20 at CompUSA up to this:

This Cpu's Speed and 400mhz.

I'll probably hop for another heatsink and better Ram, and if you do the same, you could probably get up to the 3200+ 400mhz, could maybe go higher...?
