Need Help With a New PC

Hey all, I currently run on an 5 year old laptop which just isn't up to par. It's struggling to do what I need from it. I'm looking to upgrade to a real desktop PC but I'm pretty clueless as to what I need to buy. Here's what I want to do with the PC:

- Play online MMOs with friends

- Record gameplay videos, probably using FRAPS or similar program.

- Create youtube videos. I run a youtube channel. Currently I use Windows Movie Maker and I want a PC that can efficiently convert the files to proper youtube high resolution format (it takes my current computer several hours if not all night to convert these files).

- Stream on Twitch. I want to stream mainly PC games but also some Wii U games.

My budget is flexible, but I'm envisioning spending somewhere in the $600-$900 range. Also I don't need a monitor or any accessories. I was looking at these today: Revolt: iBUYPOWER® Gaming PC

I know I need atleast 8 GB of RAM, but as far as everything else I'm clueless. Any help, tips and suggestions are appreciated. I don't know my way around inside a CPU at all, so I'd really like to buy something pre-built. If building one isn't too difficult I'd consider it.

Thanks!

Well- you definitely get more bang for the buck if you build it yourself. The quality of the parts - specifically MOBO ( motherboard) , PSU ( power supply) are usually suspect on pre-builts and pre-builts are usually harder to update when you decide to improve a graphics card, etc. . Hey I am in my 50's and never build a PC or anything else electronically until 3 years ago. I have now built 5 PC's - 3 gaming and 2 for work. If I can do it - anybody can.

PP - is our specialist for putting together builds lately - just don't waste his time if you are not really ready to purchase as prices change quickly and links he will post will be good for a limited time period- then you have to start all over again. Usually he links parts from Newegg. I am sure he will be posting soon.

There are numerous youtube vids showing step by steps on how to put together a PC. So, just google them.

I will ask simple questions that I know he will ask in order to streamline .

Do you need an OS?

What games do you plan on playing?

$600-$900 is a big range so you may want to be more specific= there is a huge difference in performance and longevity of the PC for the extra $300. For $600 you can probably build a PC that will do everything you listed- but not at the performance you may wish. You pretty much get what you pay for- just like everything else. I would expect the higher end of your range will be necessary to build a decent performing gaming PC.

I keep wishlists together in certain price points and change them up during my lunch break at work  I just amend them here and there when necessary.

I'm not technically supposed to and supposedly we are moving to the south end in which I bet I'll get shafted out of my spot and I won't be able to be online.

But you may not be in Tier 2 anymore? I feel for you because I think all IT personnel should be allowed internet access just because it's so common to look things up when you don't know them. I mean I can't imaging you needing that very much, but still it's nice to have.
