Yes that would work, My 970 maxes all the games I've put in and get 60 FPS min in most things, real busy areas in BF4 with a Tom of people there can cause a few dips but still great frame rates.

Not at 1440p.

You missed the posts about just buying a 1080 monitor

Is 1440p really a necessity? Would buying a 1080p monitor be an option to avoid down scaling or anything of that sort? Would definitely be cheaper than buying 2 980's.

Except the problem being, OP already has a 1440p monitor that he's issues with.

Dropping back to 1080P was never an option.

As much as I like the sound of 1080P 144HZ there is no way I can drop another £200 - £300 when I only bought the Dell one for £400 a year ago.

I decided to buy 2 NVIDIA GTX 970's by the way. I may do some further upgrading if I run into any problems with the CPU, MOBO and RAM. Not sure what I will do with the R9 290 yet.

The rest of your setup is fine, and your FPS issues from here out will only be due to GPU power.
