Why would M.2 have a difference in lifespan vs mSATA or through the SATA interface? Or do you just mean for performance comparison?

Different controller.

I could see a performance difference with the different controller...but I don't think it would necessarily affect the lifespan since that's dependent on the flash memory (except in the case of the HyperX where it can utilize compression before it hits the flash cells).

Then why care about the controller at all? We should all move back to the old Sandforce controller that was killing drives
