SSD upgrade for laptop plz help..

Hi I'm looking to upgrade my MSI gt72's main drive to an SSD. How would I approach doing this WITHOUT a win 8 disk? It's an Intel 540 SSD 120gb. I also want to know if all the MSI software that is preloaded (for keyboard etc.) will still be there. I do not have any important info on the laptop so I wouldn't mind wiping the drive.

I'm srry to be such a noobie but how exactly do I clone the drive? I need step by step.

Use GParted to resize your partition (if necessary), and use CloneZilla to perform the actual clone (use Either Disk-To-Image and then Image-To-Disk method, or Disk-to-Disk).

You should have some software that came with this pc to make a recovery disk set. This will re-install your operating system to the day you purchased it. Have you created a set of recovery disks ?
