We currently have a network storage system that shuts down automatically when power from the UPS is lost for an extended amount of time. However, require hardware with integrated software that will systematically shutdown ALL servers including the network storage after a certain room temperature is reached. As soon as a certain temperature is reached, an alarm must go off and an SMS and/or E-mail sent to administrators. If no actions have been taken and the temperature continues to rise the servers must go off-line via a shutdown command send from the device. Before a system shutdown occurs, an automatic notification to all users via e-mail must be sent (time stamped of course). I have found a couple of devices that send alarms and event warnings via SMS and SMTP trap & e-mail, but non that will actually carry out multiple shutdown commands automatically before critical temperatures. I know most computers have an automatic shutdown feature to protect against overheating, but we are running multiple databases on ESXi and in the event of our air-conditioned failing, the databases will not be properly shutdown prior to the Vcenter. Does anybody know of a device that can perform such actions and has a user friendly GUI (3-5 years IT experience)?
