Dead External Hard Drive?

My Seagate 1 TB External Hard drive makes and clicking noise and the docking station shuts off. Is the hard drive dead or is it the dock?

You can try opening up the enclosure and hooking it directly up to your computer - unless its still under warranty (cracking the enclosure open will void your warranty with it).

Though if it's clicking and it's the actual Click of Death....then there's little hope. You can try removing it from the enclosure and doing the freezer trick...but no guarantee it'll work.
