recycle bin inside is "invisible"

i can delet stuff and put it in the recycle bin.
when i open it, it will 'look' empty.
but when i click on 'empty recycle bin' and it will say something like: "are you sure you want to delete 13 items?"

mcafee firewall+virus scan

the ame day the recycle bin was not functioning,
alot of virus and spyware was attcaking my computer
could that be a related?
my virus scan delted them all. and i used spybot to get rid of the spywares
except for a few:

igenet
common hacker

thsi happened like 3 days ago. i have shut down/restart my computer many times.
is ther some system scan i can do to see if something is wrong?

Your recyle bin is probably corrupt I guess. There are repair tools,disk cleaners to repair your recycle bin. Iam not familiar with those s/w, but i guess tweakXP does that.
 
If they're hidden system files, quaranteened files, registry-related files, sometimes icons and links, thumbnail db files, UNC files, etc etc, they won't show up 100% of the time in your recycling bin.

Also, check the settings of your trash bin.

i threw in jpeg, shortcuts, mp3, and a whole lot of other stuff too.

wut do i check for in the settings? where? what? can u specify?
