Assuming Windows 7:

Control Panel -> Power options -> on the currently selected plan, click "Change plan settings" -> "Change advanced power settings" -> expand "Processor power management" -> expand "System cooling policy" -> set it to Active for both battery/plugged in states.

BIOS will be Setup or something similar. You have to press one of the Fxx keys at first start when you see the Acer splash screen.

Does your stand have a fan on it? If not...get one with a fan.
