Is my hard drive broken?

Look at the side of your hard drive. You see that shiny silver circle? Well, on my hard drive that cirlce got scratched so bad it teared. So the question is, is it broken, or can i still use it? It wouldnt fit in the 3.5 bay so when i pulled it out...the silver circle ripped, and boy am i pissed...

I'm pretty sure it is still going to work but just don't get anything in that hole. Try covering with something.

That's not safe. The spidles or whatever they're called can be damaged by any movement

its a warrenty tag and its for making adjusment on your drive by the manufacture. also its to keep dust etc out, try to put something back on it to prevent dust etc from getting inside.
