Computers won't read flashdrive--HELP!!

Computer USB ports are no longer reading my Cruzer flash drive; it was working just fine earlier today. The flash drive is no longer blinking and it's getting hot quickly. I've tried a multitude of ways to fix this, but to no avail. Can I get date from it, or is it lost forever? I have important college work stored on it.

Does it work on another computer?

Have you tried all of your USB ports?

I've tried multiple PCs. I'm going to see if it works on Apple computers shortly.

If it's failing on all those PC's, then IMO it's toast. You can try it on a Mac, but I'm sure it's going to do the same thing.

Flash drives die eventually - I've been in the same boat with you where my flash drive where I had all my college work die - fortunately I had a backup of the week before of the entire flash drive (and projects in emails that I sent to professors), so I luckily didn't lose anything.

After that happened though, I moved to cloud storage and just started using Dropbox for all of my school documents/projects. That way I could also access my files anywhere over the web, too.
