No I meant MP2 has the bad map and stuff.
I've never played Other M, just heard it was bad.
Fusion and Super Metroid were my favorite, but Zero Mission and MP3 are pretty good too. I've never played MP1 but I really want to...

Don't be so quick to assume something is bad until you've tried it yourself.
Check ebay this week and snag it up for 8.99 metroid prime should be a cheap as well.
If you liked fusion, other m has most of the game mechanics from fusion.
When you piece both of them together you'll like it a whole lot better.
Check youtubes LP of other m before you buy.

Alright, so the thing is, I tried cleaning the PSU, but it was fine. Didn't solve the problem. But, my CPU, which is clocked at its default speed, 3.4 GHz, is now apparently going at 3.74 GHz for no reason, according to the task manager. Is this why? And this doesn't only happen on games... Sounds like you have Vcore voltage problem.
Reboot your machine and check what your cpu multiplier is set to.
If its set to auto overclock, disable that for now and let it over clock on turbo automatically.
Since your intel chip is at 3.4ghz the safest we want to go on a intel heatsink fan is 3.6ghz.
Put your cpu multiplier speed at 2.8ghz and let it oc itself to 2.6ghz or 3.7ghz.
Review this link here so you can understand better, also since i haven't had intel chip since late of 2011 , my info might be off.
Sounds like what my core i3 540 did, I fixed it by getting better memory at 1600 on kingston.
Had mguire throw out some ideas a few years ago with overclocking and let it ride out on turbo.

I already replaced the fan with a coolermaster and used Arctic Silver 5. I will look into the clock speed and all of that later.

Start out with the cpu core voltage and increase it till you get your desired oc speed.

To make it more simpler I recommend personally you register there and ask them upfront.

Just note, increasing the vcore also will raise your idle/load temps.

That's called turbo.
