Increase allowed web bandwith

I am not responsible for anything that happens to your PC:
just Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes.
This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy
then Computer Configuration
then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler
and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.
Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured,
but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet
Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a
connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO.
This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%......

This won't work on windows 7 Home Premium because Group Policy is only for professional and above editions of windows.

this could be a bit misleading though. i'd bet most people automatically think internet traffic is bandwidth. While true, the type of bandwidth we're changing here is different. We're changing the bandwidth reserves on the network card. So if you're on a 100mb ethernet connection, windows is reserving 20mb of that bandwidth. That's another thing, we're just modifying the reserves. QoS is commonly setup to prevent network lag. You will only see a slower bandwidth connection if the other 80mb is maxed out. This would happen if you're transferring a large file over the local network (depending on the hardware used).

Personnally, I'm not going to toy with this setting. I figure MS wants this in there to keep my local network services running smoothly.
