dumb question

I have this sever sitting in my garage right now, and I want to justify using it, but I have a hell of a lot more media that SAS drive space. (6x 160GB) SO...

I want to move my external drives (14TB) to internal, but the mobo doesn't have sata connections. Can I buy a 4/8 port sata controller card(s) and just move them WITHOUT having to format or go RAID?

research that I am finding doesn't actually answer it...

I'm pretty sure also, but I don't want to spend the money on a good controller card, and then have to jump thru hoops so I don't loose my data...

Honestly I don't see why you WOULD have to format them. It'd be like plugging them into a normal SATA port; just going through the PCI BUS first instead.

Yea. You'd only need to format if you go RAID.
