I'm a little late to the party would be a better upgrade than a R7 260x then since. this was kind of a let down . should i grab a 760 or 270x

270x and GTX 760 will get you much better sustained and higher peak FPS at that resolution so yes it would be worth it.

You get a better performing CPU.
Think about it, the TPU review was getting over 20fps higher simply because they had a stock IB CPU during the review. Unless you play a Mantle driven game (basically only BF4 right now) you won't get the full potential of your card. That goes for anything else better you might buy as well. If you buy any better GPU you're basically wasting money.
