What is the differnce between LGA Socket CPUs and Socket 478 CPUs?

Which is better for what because they are about the same price?

No reason for going with a Socket 478 as it doesn't run on Intel chipsets that support future technologies like PCIe and DDR2.

I too have been looking at both products from Intel. If your computing demands are normal household type email and such the 478 will do just fine. It will run cooler and maybe memory will cost slightly less. You should research some motherboards of interest to see if they support what you need with the 478 socket p4 processors. Megadeth2 has pointed out why a lga 775 is a viable pick. Your future demands should be considered.
