ok guys I already have one 7870. my question is has radeon fixed issues with the crossfire yet or wold I be better off just getting the 7970 and calling it a day.

current computer specs:

gigabyte Z77X-UD5H-WB board
gigabyte radeon hd 7870 video card
16 gig ddr3 Kingston hyper x ram
intel core i5 3570k cpu
sound blaster recon 3d sound card
3 western digital sata drives
thermaltake 850 watt power supply
and all inclosed in an antec 902 case

I kinda wanna try the crossfire just to say I did it...lol. but don't know if it is worth it. and can find my current card for 175 shipped so that is another reason for leaning towards the multi gpu setup.
I wanted to upgrade my card because when playing assassins creed black flags maxed out but only 1920x1080 res. my fps is only about 15fps. I turned the v-sync off and it jumped up to 21fps but alas if I start to get low fps now the new games are just gonna get worse. also my one card under full load barely reaches 40 degrees Celsius so I don't think heat wud be an issue.

thank you for your help and input guys

Crossfire still has frame pacing issues that AMD hasn't 100% ironed out, but since everything else in your rig that normally I would argue against is up to par, might as well go for that second card.
