Looking for a GPU upgrade.

My current setup:

AMD Phenom II 965 BE
ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO
HIS Radeon HD 5770
G.SKILL Sniper 8GB 1333
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W

Resolution = 1440 x 900

I'm currently browsing around for an upgrade to my HD 5770. I believe my other components will still be up to par. I want a noticeable upgrade, though not something that's going to break the bank so to speak. Currently my 5770 is overclocked @ 920/1300 and my CPU @ 3.9GHz.

I was looking at this as a viable option:
Newegg.com - ASUS DirectCU II HD7790-DC2OC-2GD5 Radeon HD 7790 2GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

They have another in a 1GB version as well. The benchmarks on the 7790 are twice that of the 5770, and the cost is right within my range.

I will probably try to overclock whatever GPU I decide to go with at some point or another. Any suggestions?

Why is this card better than the 7790?

The 7790 has a higher core clock, higher memory clock... the only difference I'm seeing is the memory interface. Will this really make a huge difference after price is taken into account?

I can get the 7790 for $129 (currently for the 2GB version), this R9 270 is $180. What am I missing?

I guess you missed the part where I said the 270 is better than the 7870 in most benchmarks ;)
The 7870 is better than the 7790 in ALL benchmarks. In other words, the 270 is only slightly more and is practically double the performance of even the 7790 which is becoming low end now.
