transferring a registered file

Hi

Hope I have posted this in the correct part of the forum.

Just bought a new computer - running windows xp.

I have managed to get most of my stuff from the old computer to the new one using an external drive.

Having one major problem.
One piece of registered software I had on the old computer - I copied it to the new one, but it is saying I have to purchase again to re-register it.
I have contacted the owner of the software, and he has said the older version is no longer available.

Is there any way I can copy the registered version to my new computer?

You can try to clone the drive itself.

Not sure I have the technical ability to do it unfortunately.

At the moment, the owner of the software is trying to find out if he can activate my older version of the software.

Thanks for reply tho - I may have to try cloning eventually.

It is super simple to do, the hardest thing to do is wait for it to finish.
