Is my GPU being used?

I built a computer and put in a 660 GeForce GPU. It should run games very well, but it hasn't, really. Recently, one of my games informed me that my "Intel HD Graphics" wasn't running the game very well.

Is it possible that my computer said "nah bro we don't need your fancy GPU's or anything" and has been using another crappy default card instead? How can I fix this so my games run my 660 GeForce?

Also please give us your system specs so we can know what your using to help you out better.

Don't know which drivers you have but the latest ones from nvidia should work.
