I want to use my old 300W PSU for an HP slim line. I have purchased the 20-24 pin adapter. However I noticed there is an additional 4 pin connector on the PSU that reads 4+ as well as other connectors that do not fit anywhere on the slim line MOBO. Do I need to connect these or are there just common connectors that I need to connect?

The third picture is the power supply main. And the first picture is the MOBO I want to put the PSU in.

That 4+ connector is the extra 4 pins to make a 24 pin. So technically, you didn't need to buy the adapter. When 24pin was just coming around they made 20+4 ends so if you have a 20pin motherboard you could just detach the extra 4 and be done with it. You can even technically plug a 20 pin into a 24 pin without consequence as the extra 4 pins are to control power saving features on the board.

The picture on the end is the case extras like USB, Firewire, front audio, ect. I can tell you right now one of those is going to be plugged into the white header in the first picture marked F-USB.

All 20 and 24pin connectors are the same, and the others are also universal. If they aren't fitting, you're doing something wrong. If the board uses a different standard, chances are it won't work right.
