Laptop ASUS K55A

Brother tried to get the k55 to boot off dvddrive pressed F9 optimize defaults saved and exited , he thought this would restore a default set up but it seems to have removed all boot options except the dvdrive . The k55 now just boots straight to bios .
he was just going to wipe the existing OS off which is win7 HP x64bit with wipe drive and stick win8 back on nice and clean .

Hope this is fixable any help appreciated

You'll probably just need to go through the BIOS Boot menu section and enable the various bootable devices.

If this laptop had Windows 8 on it, then setting the bios to optimized defaults changed the bios settings. Try turning off the secure boot setting, and check the first device in the boot order in the bios and see if you can get your Windows 7 to boot up
