WiDi on Aspire V5

Hi there, new user to the forums here and hoping to get some some assistance!

Basically, I thought what I wanted to would be easy.......but it's proving to be a very difficult problem.

I'd like to use my smart TV as a second monitor so that I can stream video from my laptop to my tv. I figured it would be easy....not!

I have:

Acer V5-552P-8646 AMD A8 processor running Windows 8.1
LG 42" smart tv 42LN5700

I do not believe my laptop is WiDi capable but I just figured there must be some way to accomplish this task wirelessly.

Any ideas?

depends on what you are streaming, chromecast supports a few apps on this page (Chromecast).

if you are streaming from those apps, the $35 dollar chromecast may be your best bet.
