well that got your attention didn't it

well I have this strange problem, this computer I'm working on has a Geforce FX5200, and is currently using a monitor that can't go past 1280x1024 resolution, although the video card keeps going to 1400x1050 and I can't change it through the display properties. when I boot up it goes blank, and I have to keep using safe mode to stay at lower resolutions
I tried a tool called HZtool to set the resolution but it didn't work
is there any way I can delete this resolution so that the comp can't try and use it?
it's almost as weird as this guy

Set the defualt on the video card for 1280x1024. Change the desktop -> properties resolution as well as the nvidia settings.

I got it working now, i changed to 16 bit colour and it didn't change the display back to 1400x1050
I then went into Nvidia display properties (which works now that I'm not in safe mode) and forced it to detect the monitor settings
it's all good now
thanks anyway

right click select properties, settings, advanced, moniter

Check the "hide modes that this moniter cannot display"
