Corsair 900D Case Mod: WWII "Bombs Away"

FannBlade offered his fabrication skills to create replica scale wwII Bomb from scratch, using all aluminum. The replica will be suspended in the front intake, and for those interested, this could be designed as liquid cooling reservoir too, FannBlade is imagining an acrylic tube inserted and the fittings out the back side and make top removable.

yes, and I've been a fan of FannBlade's fab work for several years, his background focuses on metal fabrication for street rod and racing cars, so I was honored when he offered to make this replica for me. It was his decision to dump the foam for the aluminum. You can see why it would make a nifty reservoir, but that would have to be stainless, not aluminum. otherwise we pondered idea of seating an acrylic res inside this aluminum core.

Wow, fantastic work! He really does nice machining.

Having a internal res would be a sweet idea, plus free up space inside.

Seeing these makes me sad I can't do this stuff anymore.

Thank you for watching and commenting! Fannblade sanded down the pop rivets back side and filled the holes with JB weld and used a 2 part urethane primer surfacer after a quick dose of metal prep. I've handed the replica to everyone to hold... and it puts a smile on everyone's face....

Thanks for the good word guys!

I'll see what I have for pictures to post, you can watch my YouTube channel, I do lots of videos here, http://www.youtube.com/user/MonsterMawd

I've been away with other commitments, but back on this one now! I made holder for replica wwII bomb. This will mount it over two of the front 120mm intake fan. Made from 1/16" thick steel that I bent, fastened together with 1/8" pop rivets. Mounting screw holes are spaced 15mm. I painted if Flat Black Enamel paint to match the finish on the Corsair 900D.
