So I'm getting a huge college refund and if all goes well im thinking this for my upgrades

Is there a reason you need/want 16GB of RAM?

Also, if you ditched the expensive case you can get a more powerful GPU which in the end is better. You could get a 770 for that money.

If you can afford to keep the 16GB while getting a better card then do it.

My Orginial idea was to go 8gb's but my freind was like get 16

Like I said, if you can afford the better card while keeping 16GB of RAM then do it, because RAM prices are only going to increase as DDR4 gets closer. There is no benefit to faster RAM, so retaining a DDR3 system till like 2015 or later will be fine. The new consoles will bring more RAM usage, although I'm not sure exactly how much.
