CPU Autodetect

I have an Athlon XP 3000 (333 fsb) but the bios sees it as 2800. Trying to set the fsb + X manually results in no booting and resetting the speed. Thought it might need replacing?

You best bet is to update the bios. What mobo do you have?

Set bios defaults. Restart. Update with the official drivers. Restart. Google for cpu-z. D/L. Run and see what happened.

It's a gigabyte something, but it has a bios update feature for windows, i'll try it tonight. I had this problem with another motherboard as well.
